The White Rose Club is situated in 11 acres of attractive natural woodland, providing a tranquil setting for your visit.
The club offers many facilities to attract the visitor.
During the summer the heated outdoor swimming pool is, perhaps, the focus of the Club. Please note, children - 15 years and under - must be supervised when in the pool area by a responsible adult, the Club is not responsible for their safety.
Social evenings are held throughout the year, but more frequently during the summer season, details of these events are posted on the notice board (or check what's planned here). Visitors are more than welcome to attend after checking availability with the organiser.
The Club has many facilities for the more energetic visitors, there are two miniten courts and three boule courts. For the visitor who likes to relax and enjoy a quiet time there are also sunbathing lawns for relaxation among the attractive shrubs and garden and a woodland walk around the site that attracts numerous varieties of wildlife.
The centrally heated Pavilion is equipped with a sauna, wash basins and hot showers; there is a T.V., table tennis, dartboards, and junior pool/snooker table. A selection of board games for children and adults are also available. Light refreshments, tea, coffee, crisps, ice cream etc. are on offer at weekends (usually at 11.00 am and 3.00 pm).
There are laundry/washing up facilities to the rear of the pavilion, a small charge is made for the use of the automatic washing machine and separate dryer.
The Club provides two freezers where food can be stored and there is a sink that visitors are asked to use when washing up.
An "old fashioned red telephone box" helps visitors to maintain contact with friends and family.
Broadband facilities are available for those who cannot bear to be parted from their laptop; this facility is proving popular with all our visitors, young and old. A small charge is made.
The outdoor BBQ area is very popular in the summer.
There is also a licensed bar which is manned by volunteers and is open most weekends during the season.
We have a children's play area that is equipped with swings, see-saw and climbing frames.
There are shopping facilities nearby, approximately two miles away, but there are easily accessible "super stores" within a short distance of the club.
The Club is situated approximately 7 miles from the historic city of York, with its numerous tourist attractions including the Minster, the National Railway Museum and the Jorvik Centre. Further afield you will find Castle Howard of "Brideshead Revisited" fame, Burnby Hall Gardens at Pocklington with one of Europe's finest display of water lilies, the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway at Pickering and the whole of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park with its picturesque footpaths, gentle valleys and wild moorland scenery. Further afield are the seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough.
